Question
Hi my name is Arrash I am 20 yrs old and around last year i played soccer in Austria but now i am back in England having been released. I am in Uni now but still keep fit and would be keen to join a boxing gym just to learn the basic training etc. i have never boxed before and was wandering whether i am too old to start now, iam not aiming to become a proper amateur but i think i could become semi decent.

thanks very much  Arrash

Answer
Hi Arrash,

Boxing would be a great way for you to stay in shape. In my opinion, you are never too old to start.  At 20, you might even contemplate a competitive career if that is your interest, but you can certainly train and practice for fun and fitness at any age.

this similiar question comes up on boxing forums quite a bit also, and most get the same reply. see this at Rossboxing.com  http://p101.ezboard.com/frossboxingforumfrm12.showMessage?topicID=1003.topic

Try to find a boxing gym with good coaching. YOu don't want to get into sparring to fast. Normally it is the beginners that get hurt. Like Soccor, you must learn the basic skills first before one can really get in the game.

good luck and train safely.
