Boxing/Training in the Morning

Question
Dear Joe,
a couple of questions concerning training and diet.

I am 31 yrs old, I have recently (about 6 weeks ago) started training in boxing.  I train in the morning before work (from about 7 - 8.45AM), doing mostly floor work and some focus mits stuff.  I haven't sparred yet.  Since I only get up at 6 I don't eat anything for breakfast, just drink water before and during the training.  I find that sometimes I feel tired or weary before the training is over, and that I could get more out of the workout if I had more energy.  I am also often too tired to do road work or other conditioning in the evening.  I'm afraid that if I eat breakfast before working out it won't agree with me (i.e., I'll throw up).  Any suggestions about energy or nutrition before going to the gym or in the evening which might help?

Also, I am 6 ft 1, walk around at about 194.  I'd like to drop some weight, maybe down to about 180, so that I can cut to 170 if I want to fight one day.  Any suggestions on how to do this during training are appreciated.  Thanks!

Answer
Energy supplements along with vitimans such as B-12 should help your energy level also some fighters like to drink some pedialyte prior to training.  As far as weight loss there are many great diets that work if you stick to them.  I prefer a high protein diet as it helps repair muscle tissue....I also have a diet plan on my website at www.boxingdoneright.com

Thanks,

Joe
