Hi Joe,

My son is 10 yrs.old and almost 5 foot tall and about 100 lbs.  He has always been super energetic.  I thought about either a speed bag or heavy bag to help him burn energy in the winter time.  Which do you recommend.  I will also use it myself (mom).
-----Answer-----
The heavy bag if done properly will burn more energy and have a much more exhausting factor.  In addition it is easier to learn as far as hitting.  The speed bag is mostly for hand eye coordination. Be careful make sure he uses proper handwraps and gloves.
Thanks,

Joe

Answer
I would recommend the 60 lbs generally as the lighter ones are for handling quick moving fighters.  The heavier is more exhausting.  You might try www.ringside.com or www.title.com  Both companies have a wide range of bag gloves to choose from and you can get them fairly inexpensive.  I also have some products on my site at www.boxingdoneright.com  Also bag gloves should be 12 oz.  Leather last longer

Thanks,

Joe
