Question
I have my 1st Amateur fight coming up in August, and I am wondering should I compete in the Middleweight Division or should I try to lose weight to compete as a Welterweight?
I am 27yrs old, 5ft 10in, 164lbs, and currently have a body fat percentage of 13. I am also returning to the ring after taking 10+ yrs off for other focuses in life.

Answer
There is usually an advantage if you fight in a weight class that is lighter as long as you can comfortably make the weight.  I have not seen your body but it would appear from what info that I have you could in fact move down a weight class.  Good luck with your fight.
