Question
hi. i'm curious what SIZE of gloves amateurs use in their competition. 8 oz or 10 oz for boxers weighing between 135 and 150? how are weight classes are broken down especially between 135 and 150?  THANKS in advance for your response.

Answer
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for the question.
Amateur boxing does not utilize 8 oz. gloves at all. Boxers up to 152 pounds use 10 oz. gloves, and boxers greater than that weight use 12 oz. gloves.

The weight classes for senior amateur boxers in the weight range you mentioned are 125 lbs., 132lbs., 141 lbs. and 152 lbs.
If you're interested in other technical rules related to amateur boxing, you can go to www.usaboxing.org and click on the link for the rulebook.

I hope this helps, Ryan.

Thanks again for writing!

Regards,
Lian
