Question
Melanie,
I was curious with handwrapping rule for competition fight. Does the tape on the gauze go all the way around the hand and how much tape? I know its 15ft of guaze.  I've tried ordering the rulebook online and my computer want pick it up on Boxing USA. What do you know about that?
                                   Thanks Jim

Answer
The official rule is as follows: Each boxer shall wear hand wraps that are made of cotton gauze, soft surgical gauze or velpeau - cotton/soft surgical gauze - 15 yards of 2" gauze and 3' of 1-inch adhesive tape per hand.  The tape must be applied 1 inch behind the knuckles.  As you can see, there is no specification on whether or not the tape can go all the way around the hand.  You can get the rule book at www.usaboxing.org.  It's in PDF format.  You can email me at mel@amateurboxing.com if you have further problems printing the rule book.
