Question
I am trying to become a boxing judge in san francisco - how would i go about
this?  also do I need to be licensed to judge amateur bouts?

Answer
Hi Alan,
Thanks for the question.
In order to serve as an amateur boxing official, you'll need to register with USA Boxing through your local boxing committee (LBC). For San Franciscans, the LBC is called the Northern California Association. Here's the contact info for you:
Non-Athlete Contact – Candelario Lopez, Tel. 408-923-3580, email cnlopez1800@sbcglobal.net

You will need to register and achieve certification through practice and testing to judge amateur bouts.

I hope this helps, Alan.
Thanks again for writing!

Regards,
Lian

I can answer questions regarding rules for both pro and amateur boxing; upcoming bouts; fight analysis/predictions; various other questions. I am an experienced amateur boxing official with USA Boxing (14 years) and I have completed a yearlong professional officials` clinic with the California State Athletic Commission.
