QuestionQUESTION: Hi Joe,
As a training amateur boxer Ive been told to eat 2-3 eggs, sausage, toast and
juice for breakfast daily M-Sunday. Is that really healthy to eat everyday?
There's got to be a better breakfast diet. Im good for lunch & dinner but
breakfast always stresses me out because i dont know what to eat.
Thanks for your time Joe!
ANSWER: When dieting or trying to lose weight, you may not always eat from the major food groups. I would listen to your trainer because if he thinks that you need more protein in your diet then eggs, sausage and other meats are a good source. Again it depends on what your goals are; lose weight, gain weight, get a balanced meal, increase carbohydrate intake, reduce carbohydrate intake, repair muscle tissue or whatever. That is why your trainer should be able to tell you what to eat based on your goals, body structure, fat percentage, age, weight class. There are allot of factors.
Thanks,
Joe

QUESTION: I am training myself currently. I got hurt in a car accident in April and now Im just trying to get back. I dont want to get a trainer yet because I wanna build up my endurance first. I know how to train but just dont know what to eat for breakfast. weight-146 age-28 height-5'6" I want to be at welterweight. i need to get lean, im pretty loose now but I think balanced meals combined with training is best for me. i just dont think eating eggs everydqaay with a fatty meat like sausage could be heart healthy. Can you suggest any good breakfast meals for the week that will supply long lasting energy. Thanks!
AnswerUnfortunately energy and carbohydrates are one in the same, and carbohydrates in excess will add bodyweight. I recommend a high protein diet with supplemental vitamins. I am a person who feels that meats, eggs, and other high protein foods are better for you overall than starches which turn to sugar.
Thanks,
Joe
