Question
Hi Jackson hope ur well, I am a 24 year old guy currently weigh 81kg and 6"1 tall. I did boxing for 4 years just sparring however no tournaments i am told I have exceptional power and speed, do you think I can turn pro if I was to compete amateur for 2 years? im London based south east to be exact, I dont mind a short career just want to put my fitness to the test. Many thanks Aadam

Answer
Hi Aadam,

I think you are on the right track. I would fight amateur for a couple of years at least. It sound like you have all the tools to be a good fighter you just need some ring time. You will have to fight novice at first until your trainer decides you are ready for open. I would suggest getting at least 20 open fights before going pro. It's not a must, but it just helps prepare you for the pros. Also get plenty of sparring.
Guys are fighting into their mid 30's or longer. Holyfield is 44 and fighting for a world title so it's all about taking care of your body and protecting your chin.

good luck and train hard
