Question
I am trying to find info on a boxing match that occured in Madison Square Gardens in the 40"s my father supposedly boxed there as a light weight champion (?) exact date unknown his name was John Ellsworth Strom,...he was from Milwaukee wisconsin,...thank you for any help,...this could of occured late 30's to 40's

Answer
Hi Marie,

Thanks for the question.

I attempted to find information on John Ellsworth Strom at www.boxrec.com, which is a very comprehensive database of boxers and bouts. That search did not turn up specific results, but there were some boxers with similar names in the timeframe you mentioned.  You might want to check to see if your father boxed under a different name (which many, many boxers did).
I'd encourage you to do a little more fact-finding if you can, for specific dates and/or opponents, and then try the search engine at www.boxrec.com.

Hopefully, this gives you a little guidance, if not the ultimate answer!
Best wishes Marie, and thanks again for writing :)

Regards,

Lian
