Boxing/choosing a heavy bag

Question
Hi,
The boxing gym I've attended for 3 years recently closed down, and I'm looking into continuing my training at home. The only possible space for me to keep a heavy bag is outdoors - we live in a tiny Brooklyn apartment with a confusingly large private yard. Are you aware of any heavy bags (say 70-100 lbs, freestanding or otherwise) that could meet my strange requirements? Would you even recommend this course of action?
Thanks,
Gail

Answer
Hi Gail,

Puting a heavy bag out in the back yard is not strange for I know many people who have done that. Protecting it from the weather is another problem, particular in the severe cold of Brooklyn. you could find many here
http://store.titleboxing.com/heavy-bags.html

or at http://www.ringside.com/  which is down for updating at the moment.

I would never tell someone NOT to train at home if it is their only option. you will have to choose between a freestanding and hanging. you might also consider the double end for bag for variety. Your dedication will carry you through until can find another gym.

good luck in your training efforts

sincerely,
