Boxing/heavy bag hanging height

Question
I just bought a heavy bag and was wondering how heigh it should hang from the
ceiling. Right now I have positioned so the top of the 80-pound bag is about a
foot above my head.
Well sometimes ceiling height will limit what you can do. Ideally, it is nice to have the bottom of the bag high enough for you to use the bottom of the bag to simulate uppercuts to the body. Again height restrictions may prohibit you from doing this. The height that you described should work pretty well for you though.
