Boxing/How long would it take to go pro as an ameture

Question
I am 25 years old and will turn 26 in Nov. of this year. I wanted to know how long would it take for me to go pro, if a began my training tomorrow. I have past experience in the sport, but have been inactive for 10yrs. I am a heavyweight, and could easily be a light heavyweight as well. I have an incredible jab, and great knockout power. What should I do?

Answer
The first thing I would do is find a gym and a coach in your area and start training again.  10 years is a long time to be inactive.  I would suggest several years at the amateur level for experience.  After that, I would leave it up to your coach's discretion.  He would be the best judge of IF you should turn pro and when.

Please email me at mel@amateurboxing.com if you want a USA Boxing contact for your area.  Need to know city and state you live in.
