Question
Thank you for reading this.
I was reading stats on HBO's website with Trinidad and wondered how they measure fist and where on the wrist? Are forearms and biceps flexed?
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Tim,

Thanks for the question.

Typically, the fist is measured arouind the knuckles and the thumb. The wrist is measured around, well, the wrist!

Whether or not the forearms and biceps are flexed depends on who's doing the measuring. I've seen it done both ways, but little attention is usually paid to those measurements since they have no bearing on the outcome of a bout.

HBO's boxing website (www.hbo.com/boxing) has a link to ask questions of judge Harold Letterman. He can probably articulate HBO's methodology.

Hope this helps, Tim.
Thanks again for writing!

Regards,

Lian
