Boxing/am i too old to strt boxing?

hello sir, my problem is this. i am 18 years old and i have a huge passion to become a fighter. i am just wondering if i am too old to start and be able to become great. i am very determined and i have an interview with a trainer at a gym this saturday. what do you think?

Hi Paul,
Absolutey not too old.... You can fight amateur until your 34 and you have plenty if time... You can be as good as you want to be...I have seen guys fight a the national tournament after just 3 years.... just work hard and stay determined. Don't let anybody discourage you. It doesn't take 10 years to hit the advanced level. You can get there based upon how dedicated you are to training. Like I say 2 or 3 years of stay busy. After you have 15 bouts you should be ready to become an open fighter.

My trainer/boss of 24 years is in the Golden Gloves Hall of Fame and trained the heavyweight champion of the world. Experience

I have been in the sport of boxing since 1984. I started as a boxer and advanced quickly. I was lucky enough to have some of the best sparring in the country with 3 top ten pros in my very gym. I am fortunate enough to live near one of the better boxing programs in the country. We have cultivated our facility into the largest Amateur Boxing Gym in the country. In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
