Question
Hey I was just wondering if amateur boxing is dangerous with the headgear and
all? an if you could suffer from long term brain damage from sparring regurlarly?

Answer
Amateur boxing is one of the safest sports to participate in.  The instances of injury or death are nominal.  This is mostly due to the use of the headgear, thicker gloves, tank tops and good refereeing.  For sparring, make sure you are using 14 or 16oz. gloves and wearing training headgear.  And also make sure it's "sparring" and not a gym war.  8-)
