Question
Hello Mr.Rose I am trying to find information on sparring because i would like to start training as a hobby, but my question is injury to the nose. I watch boxing alot and see these fighters go rounds of boxing and thier face looks fine as well as thier nose. what happens when  you first start out? Does your nose bust when it gets hit. It just seems wierd when I watch boxing and there nose looks fine at the end of the match. Does the nose get used to it?? if you can let me know.

Answer
Hi Tom,   it really depends on the person's defense. Everyone who boxes will get hit, the difference is that guys with good head movement rarely hit hit flush. If you get hit square in the nose it is probably one of the worst things you'll ever experience. Of course having a big nose makes it worse but either way it sux. A lot of guys get their noses busted early when their sparring but unless it's broken it heals up and looks normal. Sometimes the nose is broken and it heals back different. That's why you'll some the occasional crooked nose in boxing or the flat nose from multiple breaks.
Keeping your hands up and moving your head will go a long way in protecting the nose.

thanks for the question....
