Question
Hey Alan, I just purchased a new everlast speed bag swivel, not the s-type, but the one w/like two bars and i cant figure out how the heck to get the bag attached to it.  Is there some way to unscrew it and open it up,,,Im at a loss for ideas,, please help, Im sure its a simple answer

Answer
HI Cory.

Sounds like you got a "chainlink" swivel, because you have two bars with a locking pin to hold them together.

If that is the case you need to understand the parts and know how to take it apart.  I created a special page to explain swivel construction on my website Speedbagcentral.com and perhaps this link with a series of pictures will help.

basically, you take the locking clip off to take it apart. Some people use a thin blade knife of flat head screw driver to pry the locking clip up over the knobs on the bag attachment piece, but I prefer retaining ring pliers, which open outward and are actually designed for working with chain clips like this. You can get them at lowes or any basic hardware, lumber supply house or auto part stores.

These should fix you up.  Be careful not to bend or distort the thin locking clip, or it won't hold well.

Good luck with your swivel.

sincerely,
