Question
Yeah, Hi

I just wanted to know if I could start boxing at the age of 21, cause I am currently off and on smoking and it's really a pain in the butt if you know what I mean.

I am starting to quit and was looking foward to boxing for self-defense and improved body outside and in.

Answer
Hi Chris,   absolutely... 21 is a good age to start... boxing is the perfect sport to help your overall conditiong. It involves every muscle group and it requires excellent conditioning. As far as your smoking, boxing will be tremendous in helping you quit. The discipline and dedication that boxing requires will transfer over to other aspects of your life. So your desire to quit smoking will become even greater the more you train. Once you get into the ring and spar a couple of rounds for the first time, you will see how important healthy lungs are...not too mention you heart.
So yes, get in there and train hard....you'll kick the smoking thing and better your health inside and out. PLus you'll love boxing, it's unlike anything you will ever do!

good luck,
