Question
hello I am looking into starting a amateur boxing program, in my area there arent any close,so what do i have to do to be able for my fighters to compete in amateur boxing do I need a liscense,to be certified or what?

Answer
Hi Randy,

Thanks for the question. In order to run an amateur boxing program in the United States, all involved entities must be registered with USA Boxing. The entities would be all coaches, boxers, and the gym itself.

To determine who you need to contact to register in your area, go to www.usaboxing.org, click on the "membership" link, and then find your geographical area on the list. When you click on your area, the name, address and/or phone number of a local USA Boxing officer should appear. That person can set you up with information on registering in your area. Once you're a member, you participate in USA Boxing's insurance program (a MUST for a boxing gym), and you will have access to numerous people who are knowledgable about the sport of amateur boxing.

I'm glad to hear you're thinking of starting a program; it's a great sport, and I've seen good programs greatly enhance the areas in which they operate.

I hope this helps, Randy.
Thanks again for writing.

Regards,

Lian
