Question
QUESTION: hey there i need some advice on how to start a boxing career i'm from the UK and i wonder if you could help me would be much appriciated thank you.

ANSWER: Hi Matt,   I suggest you go to this site and send an email regarding boxing in your area
http://www.abae.co.uk

If you can get involved in the golden gloves that would be your best route. They have excellent coaches and all the euqipment you'll need. You will register as an amteur boxer, get a trainer and when he feels your ready, he'll make you a fight. If you train on a regular basis which is normally 3 days a week in the gym and the other days running and conditioning, you should be fighting within 3 months. Work hard in the gym so your trainer will no you are disciplined enough to run on your own at home. That way you'll get a fight quicker and start building a record. You may decide to turn pro one day down the road so you'll need a good amateur record to help you move up the ladder faster.

best of luck !!

QUESTION: is there any golden glove gyms in the UK england?

Answer
Matt,  I have seen England compete in international GG events so I would assume they have GG. Although I would write the website I suggested an email to make sure they have their own franchises. Some countries have different age limits as well. They should be able to help you with more local information.

Good Luck

I have been in the sport of boxing since 1984. I started as a boxer and advanced quickly. I was lucky enough to have some of the best sparring in the country with 3 top ten pros in my very gym. I am fortunate enough to live near one of the better boxing programs in the country. We have cultivated our facility into the largest Amateur Boxing Gym in the country. In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
