Question
Hello i'm just wondering how long it would take a youngster like me (14yrs) to become a pro if i have just started training. Can I start amature boxing at this age and how much training do i have to do.

Answer
Hello Matthew,

When you turn pro would be a decision you and your trainer would make together. At 14 I would fight amateur until I was around 21 or 22. Try to get over 100 fights on your record. I would also try and win a national golden gloves title or make the olympic team. If you can win a major amateur title you will advance quicker when you turn pro.
You will need to train 3 days a week at the gym and then run on your own on 2 of the off days. After you turn 16 you will pick up the running part. You will no longer be in the juniors so you should start training for big tournaments.

Best of luck,

Jackson
