Question
Hi Lian,
I was wondering what the rule is with wearing braces in your mouth is acceptable in boxing both amateur and pro. If you can't with eithier of those can you when sparring.
                             Thanks Jim

Answer
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the question.
In the amateurs, braces are permissible with clearance from a dentist. A form-fitting mouthpiece is required for all boxers per USA Boxing rules.
I'm not aware of specific regulations for the pros regarding braces, nor do I recall offhand ever seeing a pro boxer compete with braces before...my guess would be that if the commission approved the mouthpiece a "braced" boxer would be fine.
I hope this helps, Jim.
Thanks again for writing!
Regards,
Lian
