i was goin through other questions because i wanna know my weight class. i found this in one of your answeres...

Featherweight           125      8 lbs.
Lightweight      132      10 lbs.
Light Welterweight   141      10 lbs.
Welterweight      152      10 lbs.
Middleweight      165      10 lbs.
Light Heavyweight   178      15 lbs.
Heavyweight      201      15 lbs.
Super Heavyweight     over 201       No limit.


im currently 136, does this put me in light weight?
and whats allowance?
and is this the same scale as professional boxing?
if not whats that scale?

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the question, and double-thanks for researching prior answers first!
If your competition weight is 136, you would be a Light Welterweight, which has a maximum weight of 141. You would be too heavy to compete as a Lightweight, since that maximum weight is 132. The weight differntial allowance for your division is 10 pounds.
In professional boxing, you would also be a Light Welterweight (or as the pros call it, Junior Welterweight, or Super Lightweight). The weight limit there is 140 pounds (pro lightweights max out at 135).
