I remember at the start of the episode where Marcia started high school she missed her first day and a doctor came to house and said she had "new school-itis". Wasn't she only faking being sick - it has been years since I saw the episode?  If she was, I am surprised Mike and Carol called the doctor.  Didn't she pretend she had stomach ache?

Answer
Yeah, she was pretending to be sick, because of being so afraid of that first day of high school.  Mike and Carol called the doctor basically to call her bluff, they suspected she was faking it.  They also did the "call the doctor" bluff when Peter was feigning illness to get out of going to Margie's party (in a different episode).
