Question
Hi,
My aunt was originally diagnosed with breast cancer about a year or so ago. She has undergone chemotherapy and just finished her radiotherapy a few weeks ago. This week she was told that the cancer had spread to her brain. Firstly, I know there are a huge number of variables here to accoutn for but how long do you think she has left? In terms of worst case scenario and best case scenario? Also, is it possible to undergo further chemotherapy or radiotherapy? Any other general information is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Eric

Answer
Yes radiation therapy to her brain is possible and will give relief - for a time. Unfortunately this means that a curative therapy is most probably impossible even though both radiation therapy and more chemo therapy are possible. In this situation it is unfortunately probable that her remaining survival time can be measured in months, most probably not in years. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
