Brain Tumors/stage v non smalll cell squamous spread to brain and now adrendal gland

Question
My Dad was diagnosed November 2006 of Stage IV lung cancer. Nov. 07 he advised my sisters and I it has spread to his brain, 8 lesions two of which are 2.5 centimeters. I have been told today it has now spread to his adrenal gland and he is finishing up radiation for that. He did chemo treatments and radiation treatments except for his head. He is now on steroids and what we call "happy pills" how long can this possibly go on? He does get easily confused, grumpy, sleeps more and is walking with a cane. He is only 69 and this past year he has quickly gone down hill. Realistically how long can he survive? We know he will not survive and our general consensus is by March we will have lost him. I know no one can give us the definitive positive answer of an exact date but could he possibly last a year? Thank you.

Answer
Some relief can be gained by radiation to his brain. But it will not change the outcome. A realistic evaluation of his situation is that he may survive from a few weeks to a few months. Anything in between here is possible but the shorter time frame is probably somewhat more probable. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
