Question
My father had a brain surgery on his left side last year in Feb, having removed a tumour. He recovered quickly, only side effect was his right hand remained a bit numb. This year on 31/01/08 he had a second surgery, this time on his right part of the brain. The after surgery effects are really different and scary. He can't sit on his on feet, he has hands tremours, he can't even sit without being sustained. He cries all the time, he is agitated, he focuses with difficulty. He doesn't cooperate at all. He seems a different person. Plus he sleeps a lot and when you speak to him, you have to ask several times the same question because, he would  start talking about something else, as if you have never asked him anything. My question is are this effects permanent? He is 62 yrs old, he used to be a normal person, now i fear he will not be able to walk and he will have mental problems.

Answer
I'm not a neurologist or a neurosurgeon but a medical oncologist & radiation therapist with experience of brain tumor treatment. His symptoms may be permanent but your question should be directed to an expert of neurology or neurosurgery, since the problem is to some extent related to the performed neurosurgery.
