Question
i lost my lovely mum(73) nine years ago to a brain tomour at the same time my brother(39) was showing similar sympyoms who after 11 weeks of suffering was also diagnosed with a brain tomour. both sadly died within 5 months of each other, both were on dextramethazone.
two years later my eldest sister(58) was diagnosed with a brain tomour who also sadly died.
some drs say 1 is bad luck but 2 is very bad luck but 3 is unheard of, could you tell me if they are hereriditory.
my eldest sisters son has neuro-fibromatosis.thank you.

Answer
There are at present NO indications that brain tumors in ANY way are hereditary. What kinds of brain tumors were involved here? Neurofibromatosis von Recklinghausen can indeed give rise to nerve tumors and the illness is hereditary. But it is not connected with real brain tumors.
