Question
my boyfriend was hospitalised after a seizure on 09/11/07. after 2 months of inpatient tests with no conclusions, a brain biopsy on 1 of the 3 'most accessible' lesions came back as a melenoma diagnosis. my own reserch tells me that prognosis is very bad.he is only 35 yrs old with no other signs of tumor.does his good health give him any chance of a longer survival?he has asked me to let him go it alone,i am overwhelmed with greif on both parts, is this a normal reaction in a young male? thank-you.

Answer
Unfortunately you are quite right with regards to his prognosis. And also his general good health will not be of much help in this situation unfortunately. Yes it is a rather common reaction in (young) males - like "stiff upper lip" & women & children to the life boats first. It is probably to some extent biologically "hard wired" into male brains. Actually it is his way of trying not to put much burden on you. As that it of course is a failure but he is trying as good as he can to achieve that goal. I think he understands his own situation.
