Brain Tumors/understanding CT

Question
I had a CT for headaches that last for now 6 days conituous with no relief from acetamonophen, midrin or excedrin. For a few weeks before this started I have been having what I call "pings" on the right side of my head. Its like a jolt of lightening or an ice pick has stuck in the right side above my eye and runs toward the ear. It is so fast and painfull that I cant open this eye. After the 3rd day of headaches I saw my PCP which ordered a CT. Can you please help me make sense of the impression.I am worried and feel this is not normal but my PCP says this is nothing. the finding says," A 3-mm in diameter soft tissue attenuation masses noted in the subcutaneous fat to the right and anterior vertex , this likley represents a sebaeous cyst, however clinical correlation is recomended." The are no bumps or anything on the scalp the I can feel, and all my pain is coming from the area. any information would be appreciated.
Thank you

Answer
I agree with your dr. in that this most probably has nothing to do with your symptoms and is not a a dangerous finding - if however it gets infected and inflamed in the future it may give some problems but not worse than can be solved by any surgeon. You can hardly feel a 3 mm big lesion (0.12 inches) so it is small! Your symptoms sound as something neurological but if no brain tumor could be seen in your CT scan your problems are anyway not caused by a brain tumor. You should consult a neurologist.
