Question
My brothers tumor has grown into the stem of his brain now, he was not holding anything in and i took him to the hospital, and they admitted him. He was very dehydrated, he is a little better now, but he is dragging his right leg, and his sentences don't make sense. He has no appetite, says he ate already. The Neurologist gave him 2 months April 18th, 2008  it's now May 24, what should i now expect? I am his proxy to carry out his Cancer Care Plan, I have witnessed 2 small seizures. He has a DNR and just wants pain meds to the end, what is your advice? Thank You

Answer
I'm sorry to read about his - and your - problems! It  is always difficult to predict survival time with any accuracy. Probably he will become more confused, sleep more and more, drift into a coma and then pass away. More stroke like symptoms and epileptic fits are also possible. When he enters a coma the end is near. There will probably be very little pain at this stage. It will probably be tough to care for him at home. Better with a hospice if possible.
