Question
Hello.  My sister was recently diagnosed with the above mentioned cancerous tumor.  She is now recovering nicely from her craniotomy and will begin chemotherapy and radiation within the next 2 weeks.  Please let me know what her prognosis is and if there are any new treatments out there that we may not be aware of.  Please, anything will help.  Regards, Traci

Answer
I'm sorry to read about her - and your - problems! There are experiments going on with among other things virus infections of these tumors. So far these trials have only had marginal effects though. Unfortunately the prognosis of these tumors is very bad. With surgery, radiation therapy and chemo therapy survival is around one year and no one survives much longer regardless of therapy. Without therapy survival is even shorter. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
