Brain Tumors/Stage 3 Oligodendroglioma Prognosis

Question
Do you know the time frame of the longest survivor of a stage 3 oligodendroglioma? What is the next step if the tumor reoccurs in 3 years after surgery, Temador, and radiation? Is it a clinical trail or repeat surgery, temodar, and radiation?

Answer
These tumor patients usually live a lot longer than other malignant brain tumor patients. Even so a grade 3 tumor case patient survives for a considerably shorter time than a grade 2 patient (a less malignant case). The mean survival time of a grade 3 case is around 3.5 years. Sorry, I do not know the survival time of the longest grade 3 survivor - certainly a very rare case anyway! If/when it comes back the usual treatment is radiation therapy and chemo therapy. The choice of drugs for such chemo therapy is changing over time as oncology develops. A clinical trial MAY be a good choice but of course that is something I can not promise - otherwise it would not be a trial.
