Question
Dear Dr,
First: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Brain-Tumors-1000/Brain-Tumor-8.htm see the page, the patient explains ganglioglioma as a cancer?! how is this possible? isn't ganglioglioma benign?
I had a surgery and a ganglioglioma was removed from my right temporal lobe, however, before and after the surgery I have complete derealization and detachment from real world! I really don't know what to do, this started after diving where I got kind of detached from the world after going to an extreme depth. I had the surgery and it was successful, and I was told it was a ganglioglioma.
I'm on depakine chrono, efexor and abilify, I tried risperdal, cipralex, seroxate (I think it's called paxil in other places - not sure), and I'm taking levothyroxine for hypothyroidism.
could any of the medications caused this?
what would be a solution to my problem.
thanks a lot !

Answer
Anything that is a glioma is basically a malignant (cancer like) tumor.
But how malignant it is depends on its GRADE. The level of grade in the question you refer to obviously was high so quite malignant. What it was in your case I do not know. A very low level grade (1 for example) tumor behaves almost like a benign tumor. I'm a cancer dr. not a neurologist so the rest of your question you should discuss with a neurologist.
