Brain Tumors/melanoma cancer....brain, lung, lymph glands

Question
My father has just been diagnosed with melanoma cancer.  They are using radiation on his brain to hopefully kill those cancer cells.  They have also found a tumor in his lung and possibly has spread to his lymph glands.  One dr. says they may be able to control it, another says may not treat it.  We live several states away...wonder what kind of time frame he has for quality life yet??  Any idea?

Answer
Has it been established that his malignant melanoma has indeed spread to his brain? If so his remaining survival time will at most be a few months even with radiation therapy (malignant melanomas are usually not very sensitive to radiation therapy or chemotherapy) but may well be MUCH shorter. And his quality of life will drastically deteriorate well before he will pass away. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
