Question
My Father In Law has been diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioma. Some Doctors are saying we need Cyberknife treatment without biopsy because it is at a very risky spot and some are saying its tough to do anything without doing a biopsy. We are very confused as doing biopsy in brain stem can lead to other risks? can cyberknife be done withour biopsy and any other methods of biopsy (very advanced) for brain stem gliomas.

Answer
Yes CyberKnife or GammaKnife treatment CAN be done without biopsy, though I myself would greatly prefer to have it done AFTER a biopsy so that I would know with some certainty what it is that I'm treating! However to do a biopsy in this location may be very tricky. If the patient insists on treatment it would probably be of help!
