Question
my husband has gbm stage 4 he was diagnosed in feb09 he is going thru chemo avastin they tell us that the treatments are stopping it from growing but his medical condition is going down fast. are we looking at the end of his life his lower extremities are the size of footballs and lasix is not helping he can barely walk or get up on his own  we need to know what to expect from here

Answer
Since brain tumors rarely have stages but do have grades I assume that you mean a GBM grade 4. Based on that and your description I unfortunately have to tell you that he does have a very bad prognosis regardless of therapy. Survival times are usually not longer than around one year from primary treatment regardless of therapy. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
