Question
i have two daughters, one was diagnosed with a brain stem tumour at the age of eight and had radio therepy, she is now in remission at the age of twenty eight. my other daughter was diagnosed three years ago with a grade two tumour, she had it removed but it regrew as a grade four. she had another op in july to remove this one but now she is very ill. she is sleepy, fitting and does not recognise anybody. We do know her prognosis but i have been told that tumours are hereditary and i have a son aged twenty two (by a different father) should i be worried? .

Answer
Yes with some cancers the tendency to develop them may be inherited. However the causes of brain tumors are at present unknown - not even any known genetic links at present. So for the time being we will have to consider your 2 daughters as an unfortunate coincidence and nothing more.

I have some computer problems so unfortunately my reply is delayed.
