Question

After an ultra sound my doctor has concluded I have 3 abnormal sized lumps on my neck. Two on the right side, and now very recently a third on the back of my neck where my hair line starts. I am suffering with excruciating pain in my head. I feel like I can't process my thoughts anymore, or think straight. This year I have felt very weak overall, and the head pain is now constant.

I am scheduled for a biopsy this week, but they have also scheduled me for a lumbar puncture.

Do you think this lumbar puncture is needed? I would think if this was meningitis I would have a fever/rash. I have neither of those. I also have a bone tumor just discovered (due the pain it is causing) on my right the rib. The radiologist says it appears benign but that a low grade cancer cannot be ruled out. No idea if this is related to the lumps in my neck, but the thoracic surgeon has decided he won't be biospying it based on statistics of its CT Scan apearance.

Any advice is appreciated.

Answer
The biopsy IS NEEDED. The puncture is more difficult to evaluate. Has any CT or MRI brain scan been done? Results?

I have some computer problems so unfortunately my reply is delayed.
