Brain Tumors/Potential Brain Problem

Question
Greetings Dr. Nordquist:

I am female and 59 years of age.  I have always been in fairly good health and have rarely needed to see doctors in my entire life.  Over the last year I intentionally lost 35 lbs. in increments.  I was 178 lbs.  Now I am 140 lbs. at 5 ft. 5 inches tall. I used Human Chorionic Gonadatrophin last April for 23 days to increase weight loss.

About 2 months ago I began having some health problems. It may be coincidental that it was after 2 months of acute family and pet illness (and death) where I was the caregiver.

I saw an MD and had various blood tests done, including hormone tests, which revealed no serious problems.  He prescribed small does of natural Progesterone and Testosterone and some vitamins and herbs for stress.

After 3 visits he has yet to acknowledge my comments regarding increasing dizziness and fuzzy vision. Some days are clear; others are not.  I have increasing difficulty spelling. I have almost no energy to even do work in my home.  Sometimes I lose my balance and fall against something.  I am becoming concerned about the possibility of a brain tumor.

What type tests do you recommend?

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me.

Answer
What I do recommend is that you should let a neurologist - I'm not a neurologist or a neurosurgeon, I'm a medical oncologist & radiation therapist with experience of TREATING brain tumors - check you soonest! Good luck!

I have some computer problems so unfortunately my reply is delayed.
