Question
For the last 5 years, several doctors have felt my daughter (now 22)has a brain tumor.  Blood tests sometimes come back positive, then negative.  Finally, an MRI 6 months ago of the pituatary (sp?) gland showed no tumor and the suggestion was her problems (lactating, blurred vision, male hair growth, headaches) were due to adderall.  She stopped the medication in April and still has symptoms (with a rise in lactating and breast size).  Now they think they may have missed the tumor on the first MRI?  Is this normal?  Could it be anything else?  She is not pregnant.  That seems to be the only thing they are sure of.

Thank you for any help you are able to offer. I mother worries.

Answer
Well if an MRI scan of her brain did not show any pituitary tumor then usually (practically always) there is no tumor there. Any tumor there that can cause any visual problems should be easy to spot that way. The rest of your question should be directed to an expert of endocrinology as it is outside my area of expertise here. Good luck!
