Brain Tumors/clival chordoma

Question
my 87-year-old mother has a large (baseball size) chordoma in clivus, which was asymptomatic until mid-2007, when she developed severe headaches and was admitted to the ER.  eventually her eyes also crossed.  the symptoms resolved after about 3 weeks, we think in response to early treatment with decadron.  given the resolution, sudden onset and response to decadron, we speculated it was inflammation rather than tumor growth.  i believe her sed rate was normal throughout.  she is starting to have symptoms again.  is it reasonable to treat for inflammation again?  and are there options other than decadron (which induced a 2-day delirium)?  thank you in advance.

Answer
Chordomas are treated surgically. In cases like this by a neurosurgeon. I'm not a neurosurgeon but a medical oncologist & radiation therapist with experience of treating brain tumors. This is therefore outside my area of expertise. You should direct this question to a neurosurgeon.
