Question
My partner was diagnosed in July 2008 with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma grade 3 he had radiotherapy 5 days a week for 6 weeks ending in late October 2008 he had an MRI scan just before Christmas that was inconclusive showing lots of swelling, he had a further MRI scan in January that showed the tumour was still active and behaving as a grade 4 he started chemotherapy on the 16 February with Temodal 360mg for 5 days we are aware that this treatment only benefits between 25 and 30 % of people that respond to this treatment, his tumour is located in the frontal right and since December has lost total use of his left side (this is his dominant side)in your expert opinion what are his chances of gaining any mobility to this side and what life expectancy I can we expect he's 45 years old

Answer
I'm sorry to read of his - & your - problems! His chances of regaining that ability are most probably very slim or non existing. His life expectancy is around one year or somewhat longer, but not by much. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
