What exactly is the blood-brain barrier?

Answer
Many drugs/medicines have difficulties in moving from the blood into brain tissues. That is probably due to the fact that the nerve cells in our brains are supported by the so called glia cells in our brains, not only structurally but also with regards to the transport of nourishment from the blood. So with some exceptions (oxygen for example) only what is transported by those glia cells can reach the nerve cells. This has been called the blood brain barrier.
