Question
My younger brother has been diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the brain, stage 4.  Many lesions were present on the brain, but the largest ones were in the temporal lobe and in the back of the brain.  It is also in some abdominal lymph nodes.  Treatment includes radiation and chemo by pill.  The first 5 rounds of each of the above treatments have improved the way he feels, but I would like to know what to expect in his future.  Any info, please.

Answer
Malignant melanomas are usually not very sensitive to radiation therapy or chemotherapy. That those even so are used is due to the fact that nothing else is available. Unfortunately his survival time can probably at most be measured in months. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
