Question
QUESTION: Someone I love very much was diagnosed in June last year with stage 3 breast cancer that had metastasized.  Then she was staged at a 4 with it affecting her brain diagnosed while receiving chemotherapy.  Now more spots have shown up on her brain.  Can you please tell me what the average life expectancy might be without treatment and with treatment?   Thank you very much.

ANSWER: Unfortunately the prognosis here - even with treatment including both chemotherapy and radiation therapy - is very bad. At most you probably can expect a few months of survival maybe less, without treatment definitely less. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!

QUESTION: Thank you for taking the time to answer. I was hoping for better but I knew inevitably it wouldn't be pretty.
Knowing that answer, leads me to another question.  What can be expected as the cancer progresses then until the end?

Answer
She will become more and more confused, may suffer stroke like symptoms even epileptic fits. She will sleep more and more eventually all the time (then her end is near). Then drift into a coma and then pass away. Not much pain, if any.

No not at all! Why should you?
