Question
My father is 68 years old, underwent a surgery to remove
his left frontal lobe lemon size meningioma brain surgery
on April 8th 2009. He was good till 12th April morning and
he suddenly went on to coma. Doctors said he is unconscious
because the oxygen going to the brain was insufficent and
term was said to us was hypoxia.

He was continuing the life support till 5th of may 2009 and
for the past 1 week he is out of ventilator and life
support.

How long this unconsciousness will continue to my dad.
According to Glasgow Coma Scale he can be given 9 points.

Right now the hospital I am getting consultation is asking
me to wait wait and pretty much they are not providing any
medication to invoke my dad out of coma.

I am from India and happened to see the below link which
says "Erigo" which is pretty much my dad's situation.

Would this help my dad to recover from his state.

Please advise me on what should I do in order to recover my
dad's situation

Answer
A meningioma is a benign tumor of the lining of the brain, not a tumor of the brain itself. Its treatment is entirely surgical. I'm not a neurosurgeon or a surgeon, I'm a medical oncologist and radiation therapist with experience of treating brain tumors. Your question is therefore outside my area of expertise here and should be directed to a neurosurgeon or to a neurologist. However your description of the situation does not look good. Has any recent CT or MRI scans of his brain been done (after this happened)?
