Question
My relative had a grade 1 tumour over the optic nerve in 2001.  The tumour has now returned.  It is now grade 4, she is having surgery next week.  What will she be like after surgery and how long will she survive.

Answer
The result of the surgery is too unpredictable with the limited information I have to be able to give you any kind of reliable prediction. If it now is a grade 4 brain tumor her prognosis is unfortunately very bad. I think a survival time of around one year or so is realistic. That would mean a survival time of around 10 years from her first surgery which for a grade 1 tumor also is realistic.
