Brain Tumors/Brain tumor pathology report

Question
Hello:

My husband has his first grand mal seizure on June 2nd.  They found a tumor in his brain that night and he had a biopsy done on June 15th.  We are being told we will not get the results of the pathology report until maybe next week sometime.  Is this normal?  We were originally told we would get the results on Monday June 22nd.  We are growing impatient, concerned and very frustrated.  We just want to move forward so we can decide what to do next. Thank you for your help.

Answer
Dear Karen, neuropathology of brain tumors is hard & difficult. Often several very experienced & talented neuropathologists have to evaluate the material in consensus. So a delay of one or two weeks is not remarkable even though the delay for you, your husband and the rest of your family unfortunately must be hard to face.
